Tumor Immune Surveillance
The Problem.
CAR-T cell therapy is an emerging cancer therapy where the patients immune cells (T-cells) are engineered to search for, identify, and eradicate their cancer cells. But for a general audience, the molecular mechanisms can seem complicated and difficult to grasp. The goal of this project was to find a way to represent CAR-T therapy that stylistically represents the core idea: an engineered cell that conducts surveillance, seeking out cancer cells to destroy.
The Solution.
Rather than representing the literal biomolecular mechanisms CAR-T cell therapy, we searched for a representation that would speak the the essential underlying idea: CAR-T cells surveilling the tumor microenvironment, searching for tumor cells to eradicate. For the design, we tried to imagine how a futuristic cyberpunk "drone" might look in a microscopic, cellular world.
To reinfornce the idea of an engineered cell, we designed the CAR-T cell to look half organic and biological and half futuristic and engineered. The CAR-T cells is equipped with a "spotlight" searching for cancer cells to destroy, slowly panning across the environment.
