We create planned, researched, and intentional designs. We will communicate with you throughout the project to understand every aspect of your communication needs: from the gritty, technical scientific details to the artistic approach that will engage your target audience.

We will build up the project systematically, starting with a strong foundation and layering in rounds of refinement to ensure the final project realizes your vision.

We will solicit your feedback at every key milestone to ensure you are on-board with the project direction throughout. And whenever possible, we will help you explore different visual strategies and discover the solutions that meet your needs.

Kickoff

Every project begins with an initial kickoff meeting, where we will work with you to understand your story, objectives, target audience, and branding guidelines. Our goal is to extract the essential information you want to convey, your needs, and to define the communication problems that need to be solved. After our meeting, We will conduct background technical research to ensure we grasp the subtletities of your specific technical niche and begin building a "mood board" of inspiration to explore visual solutions.

Storyboard

The story board consists of a panel of rough still images, each representing an essential moment in the final animation. The goal is to establish the essential foundation and flow for the animation: the key moments, compositions, and foundational design elements. We will work with you to identify which aspects of the story are working and which parts need to be developed further to meet your goals.

Style Frames

We aim to define the polished visual style that captures your intended mood, speaks to your target audience, and elevates your message. We create high-resolution, polished still images that are intended to capture the ultimate aesthetic of the animation before we set it in motion. Will the animation be gritty and realistic, stylized and cartoony, dark and moody, bright, colorful or subdued? Do the 3D models accurately express the most important information? Will the design speak to your target audience? The goal here is to help you envision how the final polished animation will look as early as possible and ensure a smooth production process.

Rough-Cut Animation

We create a rough draft that is fully animated to establish the timing, motion, and flow of the animation before refining the final aesthetic. The rough-cut animation will lack the polish of the style frames, using a lower resolution and simpler textures and lighting. Here we are defining the motion and using the style frames as our guide to envision how the rough-cut will eventually transform into the final polished animation.

Polished Animation

Once we finalize the details of the motion, we breathe artistic details into the project. Using the style frames as a guide, we polish the visual aesthetic of the animation, refining it with cinematic lighting and textures.

Post-Production

With the base 3D rendered animation competed, we add the final layer of design. Graphic overlays like text, arrows, and other 2D effects are added. We tune the transitions between shots, add music, make final adjustments to the color balance and contrast, and add the final layer of polish to complete the work.
