FAQ

How do we know we'll get what we want?
Our process is designed to be collaborative, iterative, and systematic. We will provide you with ample opportunity to provide technical and creative feedback throughout the process to ensure that you are happy with the final product and that you have your own voice in the work. From the outset, we will dive deep into the technical details of your project, your target audience, and your goals. We will help you to extract the core message and translate that message into compelling visuals. If a design isn't working for you but you aren't sure why, we will prepare multiple design solutions for you to explore.

We don't just create images and videos. Our role is to help you crystallize your core message and to help guide you on your journey to discovering the solutions that will fulfill your goals.
How do you ensure scientific accuracy?
All projects in our studio are led by our PhD-trained owner, Brad Krajina. Brad has a PhD in chemical engineering from Stanford and over 10 years of research experience at the interface between engineering, cancer biology, and chemistry. He has a deep and broad interdisciplinary expertise and loves to engage with scientists, engineers, and medical professionals from diverse technical backgrounds. Brad has collaborated with cancer biologists, engineers, chemists, physicists, educators, journalist, and clinicians in both scientific research and scientific visualization settings.

We will meet you on a highly technical level to help you translate your vision into a compelling visual story. We will engage with you to ensure we understand both the science and your goals, and if necessary, we will extensively research your specific area of expertise to fill any gaps.

Our specialty is in engaging in high-impact, challenging communication problems with highly technical underpinnings and translating those highly technical ideas into engaging and accessible visuals that can inform and inspire audiences with a diverse range of expertise.
What about music and voice-overs?
We are more than happy to secure the licensing rights for background music and to help you identify the sound design that will complement the visuals and help you tell your story. For narration, we work with a network of voice-over artists, and we are happy to do the work of identifying and presenting candidates and securing the rights to the narration. Of course, if you prefer to handle the sound through another agency or on your own, we can accommodate that as well.
What rights will I have to the work?
Most of our clients need bespoke solutions that are specifically tailored to their product, organization, research, or brand. As such, we typically provide exclusive, worldwide copyright licenses that enable you, and no other third parties, to use the final video or image in all of your intended use-cases. We do typically ask for a limited license back to use the work on our own website and social media accounts for promotional purposes. We are happy to work with you to identify the licensing that meets your needs and to prepare the appropriate licensing agreement.
How much does it cost?
Because we build bespoke solutions that are tailored uniquely to our clients, we do not have universal rates. Our rates depend heavily on the project, our client's needs, and the intended use case of the work (e.g. commercial advertising vs educational content). However, we can give a rough guideline of our typical price ranges to help you evaluate feasibility with your budget.

  • 1-2 minute informational animation: $15,000-$40,000
  • Detailed scientific illustration: $3,000-$5,000
  • Short-form (~10 second) video content: $5,000-$10,000
We appreciate that for some of our potential clients, especially early-stage startups, academic researchers, and educucators, that these rates may be out of reach. We are happy to work with potential clients to see if we can build a custom solution for you that meets your needs while respecting your budgetary constraints. If you see the value in our work but you have unique budgetary constraints, let's talk to see if we can find a solution.
Do you charge hourly rates?
No, we don't charge hourly rates. We charge fixed rates that are determined at the beginning of the project on a per-deliverable basis. We don't believe that charging hourly rates is fair to our clients. The value we deliver to you isn't determined by the amount of time we spend working. The value we deliver to you is determined by the quality of the final project, how you will use the product, and ultimately how the product will add value to your organization or business.
