Macrophage Picnic
The Story.
Macrophages are cells in the immune system that consume ("eat") bacteria, viruses, debris, and even cancer cells to protect the body and maintain tissues. The goal of this project was to represent this process (known as phagocytosis) in a fun and engaging way that would appeal to a broad audience.
Our idea was to represent the macrophage as a sort of animated character. Here the process of phagocytosis is represented by the macrophage having a "picnic," enjoying some bacteria and viruses in the sun.
